People from FYROM are constantly trying to change the history and reality and portray foreign figures/heroes as their own.

They accuse Greeks about the theory "Everything is Greek" but the truth is that they are worst than this.

1) Mother Teresa
She was an Albanian who just born in Skopjie
2)Goce Delcev
He was a Bulgarian
3)Alexander the Great
He was Greek
4)Cyrillos and Methodius
They were Byzantines (aka Greeks)
5)Samuil
He was Bulgarian

Dear asker, this is very common to all the Balkan folks.

Sorry,Dear Blunt, that we are refering to Byzantines as our ancestors. But you see, they are modern Greeks' immidiete ancestors.

It is not Greece that claims something that don't belong to it's people, at least we speak the same language with the Byzantines, or is it another Hellenisation?

After Heracleus and after Justinian you can speak about Byzantine Era, in general we use this term from the time that the Eastern Roman Empire uses Greek as the official language. Historians use this term, it's not a bunch of Greeks that invented it and it's all the same to me if we call them Eastern Romans, it doesn't change anything.

And what about the POMAKS? Why did you(plural) delete my answer to the Turkish Section about them? I was bringing scientific evidence from a personal research and it was a great surprise to me! ARE THE POMAKS TURKS?

Are the Anatolian Civilization Turkish people's civilizations?

Is Homer an ancient Turkish? (?????)

Is the Ancient Greek Civilisation an 'impotred' from Egypt civilisation?

I'm so curious that I would like to ask a bibliography, I'm curious to see what a Turk reads! Really, I know what a German reads for example....

In Greece, honestly, there has been a long time that we have passed the syndrome of 'EVERYTHING IS GREEK' and it would be better for our neighbours to do the same.

Everytime you tell us something that you think we don't know about our culture, I'm trying to tell you that a hamble school teacher, like me, knows what you bring here, because we teach it in our school.

It is yours and maybe others' conclusion that we feel over-proud for our past, I'm telling you (plural) that Greeks DON'T FEEL MORE PROUD ABOUT OUR PAST THAN WE SHOULD.

Thanks for the try to show us options of the history that we don't know, but if I (simple teacher) know it, that it means that you don't say something new.

And to return to your question, asker, THIS IS BALKAN AND THEY NEVER GOING TO BE EUROPE! Exactely because they pay so a great attention to what is theirs and to find 'bounds' to the land they got, and this observation includs also Turkey.

Greece is the only one that has managed to get over it, not totally, but at least to a descent degree that permittes it to move on.

Everyone dreams of the times that was rich and powerful! And ignores the today's status or dreams that he can change it with just a simple action! No one has the politican spirit (from the politicians and governments) to predict the most possible distant consequences!

You know, THAT'S why I think we will have another war in our neighbourhood and I'm very pessimistic about this.

I hope my approach helped in something.

MaCeDonIan PhaLanX gave you the best answer.

I will just add that Kemal Ataturk was also Macedonian, (Turk by ethnicity, since in Macedonia minorities are recognized) and Kleopatra too.

Also your prime minister karamanlis belongs to Macedonian minority in Greece (by his mother's side).

Totally Blunt, your info is not completely accurate.

The Roman state was divided. The so-called Byantine Empire covered the area where Greeks lived, mostly. So from the 5th-6th century onwards the administration of this area was called "Roman Empire", because it was a continuation of the Roman Empire, but it had Greek population, Greek leaders, Greek language, Greek schools, etc. Hence for a long time, especially during ottoman period, that you should know, all Greeks called themselves Romios (Romans).

And the term Byzantine did exist, it meant the people who were from Byzantium (Constantinople at the time).

You forget Kiro Gligorov, he is Bulgarian too (Macedonian surname would be Gligoroski)

And Goran Pandev (Macedodina-Pandeski) is Bulgarian, don't you think so?

Phillip II (382 BC–336 BC) is greek, because it is stupid to be Macedonian, when he is the father of Alexander the Great?

Gorbachov (ex russian president) is also Bulgaian, just like Sergei Prokofiev

But, Roman Polanski, Lukas Podolski, Tchajkovski are Macedonians, am I right?

That's a conspiracy against Greeks.

PS. Byzantine is a wrong term here. The correct term is Eastern Roman Empire:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Roman_Empire

Cyrillos and bro may have been Greek, but the administration was Roman. How come you perpetuate the "Everything is Greek" theory in a question in which you accuse people of distorting history?
2008-10-09 19:35:13 UTC
what makes me more angry besides these FYROM,S is a turk telling me how my countrys history should be...

No that's not true!

In order to understand more then you know, please read carefully!

1. Mother Teresa

- Nobody said that Mother Theresa was Macedonian!!! At least I don't recall that! I do recall that she always claimed: "I from Skopje" - not adding any nationality! BTW She was born in Skopje (Macedonia), her mother was Albanian and her father was Vlah! Soo that means she was not pure Albanian!

I am glad I corrected you!

2. Goce Delcev

He was Macedonian! He was born in Kukush, Aegaen Macedonia! And about his nationality, don't let me start! Goce Delcev: " I understand the world solely as a field for cultural competition among nations".

I am glad I corrected you!

3. Alexander the Great

It's so obvious - pure Macedonian! Born in Pella, Aegaen Macedonia!

Again, I am glad that I corrected you!

4. Kiril and Metodij

They were born in Solun, Aegaen Macedonia, and about their nationality, there are statements that they were: Greeks, Bulgarians, Srbs, Macedonians and even Jews....and as we (Macedonians) say "Everyone cries on his grave"!

I am glad that I corrected you!

5. Czar Samuil

Drinov's theory dosen't work anymore !!! Nobody supports that silly theory, nor should you!

I am glad, again:)!

Have a beautiful afternoon and take care!

Greetings from Macedonia
